Stamina 55-1610 InMotion E1000 Elliptical Trainer

This elliptical trainer has non-slip foot pedals housed in a compact chassis that can be stored in a closet or under a desk.  Despite its simplicity compared to trainers that work body and arms as well as feet It will provide a full cardio workout within the confines and comfort of the users home or office.

Without risk or injury to the knees, hips, ankles or back this trainer will burn a similar number of calories as jogging.

Its pedals are non-slip, is of sturdy steel construction, and has an electronic fitness monitor that measures calories burned, strides per minute with total number of strides taken, and exercise duration.  A scan function lets the user monitor personal stats easily. These measurements will maintain the user’s will power and keep personal momentum towards pre-determined fitness goals.

Because the pedals can be worked in both reverse and forward directions the user can work the lower body in varying ways.

The user can adjust the intensity of the workout through adjustable tension.

All in all, this is an effective compact elliptical trainer.

“This is a fairly compact, noiseless and easy-to-assemble machine and it does its job.”

“It’s very sturdy but does take a little getting used to as far as balancing on it but you can get a great workout from it. The strides are much smaller than what you find in a gym but that’s expected.”

“Biggest cons would have to be that 1) the range of motion is definitely smaller than on a “real” elliptical and 2) the resistance setting isn’t all that great.”

This elliptical trainer allows smooth consistent workouts through a perimeter-weighted flywheel.  A solid workout platform is provided by oversized stabilizers and levellers. A natural and comfortable elliptical path is achieved through bio-mechanically designed linkages.  There are 12 programs for workout variety with 16 computer-controlled resistance levels.  The resistance system is ECB (Eddy Current Brake).  These programs includes allowance for 6 course profiles, one custom workout and one fitness test.

The trainer has a quick start start function so that the user can set a personal challenge to reach the next level by easily changing the resistance level while exercising.  There is ample scope here as there are 16 computer-controlled resistance levels.

The trainer has a comfortable feel on the footpads and handlebars (fixed and moving) through its design while offering a natural 18 inch stride.  Grip heart rate monitoring is contained within the handlebars and while exercising this function allows the user to track heart rate.

“The elliptical itself feels sturdy and well built. I am 300 pounds and it supports my weight without shaking or wobbling. The 18″ stride and the handles feel comfortable for my 5’10″ frame.”

“Took about 1.5 hours total with 2 people (don’t even attempt to do this with 1 person). As I expected, some parts were harder to do than others because of the way the holes line up, but in the end I managed to put it all together.”

“But then, after the first week, I started hearing a few creaks and squeaks. I’d read that other users experienced this same thing so I wasn’t too alarmed and was all set to live with these fairly quiet sounds until…they weren’t so quiet.”

This elliptical trainer has an 18 inch stride length and a two dimensional pedal that allows the user to pedal backwards or forwards depending on what muscle group is targeted.  Its performance system includes computer controlled drive system and a 25 pound (11.3 kg) steel flywheel.  These features provide high inertia and smooth rides.

The workout programs include a manual option, two custom, ten profile, 3 heart-rate, and a calorie goal program with 16 resistance levels.

The LCD display is blue backlit and includes BMI (Body Mass Index), Results Mode and Recovery Mode programs.  The hand grip monitors heart rate.

Other features include the Schwinn BioConnect computer that allows users to track progress, measure workout results and input data. The LCD displays resistance, calories, speed, pulse, distance, watts, RPM, interval time and duration.

There are transport wheels for convenience, solid steadiness through oversize stabilizer tubes and comfortable foot movement through bio-mechanically designed linkages.

“The machine is so smooth and quiet. It’s no problem for others in the room to watch TV at the same time.”

“The lack of a chest strap compatibility feature wasn’t a big deal for me since I don’t use a chest strap and have never liked them, but be aware of this short-coming if that option matters to you.”

“I loved my Schwinn elliptical but got lazy and stopped using it for awhile. Now that I want to get going on it again, it will not turn on–no lights on the panel even with the batteries changed and all the power connections checked, double checked, and triple-checked.”

This elliptical trainer offers 8 electronic resistance levels while a smooth, quiet operation is maintained by a 14.3 pound flywheel that provides continuous velocity thus maintaining pedal and arm momentum.  The flywheel has a magnetic brake which creates more consistent resistance during the workout.  Because the flywheel has an instep-stacked design there is a lower step-on height  (9.8 inches) for easy access along with a more natural, longer stride length.  As the unit is shorter and smaller than other elliptical trainers, it fits in low ceiling rooms, including basements.

A more natural walking motion is created by the narrow distance between the pedals (2.8 inches) and how the user’s foot position changes as its natural movement is imitated by the pivoting footpad.

This trainer works the user’s legs and upper body through 9 goal-oriented programs.  The user can choose one of 3 terrains (hills, reverse train and manual) and one of 3 different goals (calories, distance and time.)

The user can enjoy longer workouts and achieve faster results as there is less stress on the lower back, hips and knees through the trainer’s natural ergonomic movement.

The LCD screen, though not backlit, offers crisp workout feedback thus helping the user to develop an effective training program.

“After a lot of research (I narrowed my decision down to the EX-57 and the Schwinn 430), I decided on the Horizon because of the warranty. Plus, I was able to try the machine out beforehand at my local Sears.”

“My husband said that the stride could be a little longer for him, but he is not uncomfortable on the machine. He did say, however, that someone much taller than 6’2″ would probably be a little uncomfortable with the length of the stride.”

“The biggest problem is that, as others have described, the hand-grip heart rate monitor doesn’t really work. It appears that the slower you’re going, the more accurate it gets.”
